About Wigston
Wigston, or Wigston Magna, is a town in Leicestershire, England, only south of Leicester on the A5199. Wigston had a populace of 32,321 of every 2011. One of the most punctual records of Wigston is in the Domesday book as Wichingstone in the old wapentake of Guthlaxton, recorded among the grounds held by Hugh de Grandmesnil for the King. In the Middle Ages it was referred to as Wigston Two Spires as, bizarrely, there were two medieval holy places there, All Saints' and St Wistan's. St Wistan's is alleged in light of the fact that it was one of the spots where the assemblage of St Wistan or Wigstan rested before entombment.
Wigstan was a Mercian sovereign who was killed, yet was viewed as a Martyr. He was at first covered at Repton, yet his body was then moved to Evesham. There are ious elementary schools in Wigston. Wigston Academy is the optional school for the zone. It was framed in September 2015 from the merger of Abington Academy and Bushloe High School. Wigston College earlier known as Guthlaxton College is the post-16 supplier for the region. The two organizations are a piece of Wigston Academies Trust. You can come here with your family members and friends.
