Whippendell Wood

Whippendell Wood includes 165 sections of land of old forest found near Cassiobury Park. It can be gotten to from the recreation center by methods for an open trail crossing through the West Herts Golf Club or from Rousebarn Lane.

Since 1954 Whippendell Wood has been assigned a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of the forest natural surroundings present and its area in a prevalently urban and agrarian setting.

The zone is outstanding for its great gathering of bluebells. The Watford 10K race styled as 'the bluebell run', which happens on the May Day bank occasion of every year goes through the forested areas when the show is taking care of business.
