About Waterloo Road Church
Waterloo Road Church in the beginning started out as a Victorian "Ragged School" in 1846. A lady living with the aid of the canal in Uxbridge taught poor kids in her very own domestic. This covered "Sunday School". This transferred to a constructing of its personal in 1864. About this time the local "parish" commenced to take over duty for schooling but the "Sunday School" remained and have become known as "Waterloo Road Mission". The paintings declined toward the stop of the 19th Century however became given a boost in 1903 whilst St Margaret's Church took an hobby in it and appointed a Superintendent to the "Mission".
This become a nearby businessman called Milton Hutchings who led/ ran the Church till his death in 1940. Milton Hutchings changed into the proprietor of Hutchings Nurseries, now the Garden Centre in Pield Heath Road close to Hillingdon Hospital. A new building turned into opened in 1932. The constructing became extended in 1967 to include what we now name the rear hall and some adjustments on the the front. A similarly small rear extension became constructed in 2001. The Church became affiliated to the FIEC in 1962 and modified its name from Waterloo Road Mission to Waterloo Road Free Church, and later just Waterloo Road Church. Until 1980, the Church changed into run through an "Executive Committee" while they changed to Elders and Deacons. The Church is a member of the Evangelical Alliance.
