Waterford Heath
About Waterford Heath
Waterford Heath is a Local Nature Reserve which is located in Waterford in Hertfordshire, England. Waterford Heath is a previous sand and rock quarry north of Hertford. Quarrying stopped on the site in the mid-1990s and work was attempted to reestablish it to make a 'group nature stop'.
It contains a scope of territories including prairie, scour, ranch forest and a little territory of old, semi-common forest. The hold is imperative for its populaces of grizzled captain butterflies, which feast upon the inexhaustible wild strawberry. Skylarks and willow songbirds are known to breed on the site. In the fall and winter, fieldfares and redwings are consistent guests.
