About Wardown Park Museum

Wardown Park Museum, once in the past the Luton Museum and Art Gallery in Luton, is housed in a huge Victorian manor in Wardown Park on the edges of the town focus. The historical center accumulation centers around the conventional artworks of Bedfordshire, prominently bind making and cap making. There are tests of Bedfordshire bind from as ahead of schedule as the seventeenth century. Robert How manufactured the main property inside the recreation center, called Bramingham Shott, which is the present home to the gallery. Amid the First World War Wardown House was squeezed into benefit as a doctor's facility, initially by the Royal Army Medical Corps, and after that the Voluntary Aid Detachments of the British Red Cross Society.

The museum hall has a collection of around 700 caps and bits of head wear. The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment exhibition, delivered by the Imperial War Museum, clarifies the historical backdrop of the nearby regiment. The first floor displays were repaired and opened as the Luton Life shows in February 2003. This was incompletely financed by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The gallery shows investigate stories of Luton individuals in the course of recent years. The ground floor shows incorporate the Living Landscape exhibition which shows nearby antiquarianism and regular history, including the Shillington Roman coin store and an Iron Age reflect.
