Twickenham
About Twickenham
Twickenham is a suburban place of south-west London, England. It lies at the River Thames and is 10 miles west-southwest of Charing Cross. Historically a part of Middlesex, it has formed part of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames because 1965. Twickenham has an extensive town centre and is well-known for being the residence of rugby union in England, with masses of loads of spectators travelling Twickenham Stadium, the world's largest rugby stadium, every year. The ancient riverside area is famous for its community of 18th-century houses and pride grounds, a lot of which live to inform the story intact.
This region has three grand length mansions with public access: York House, Marble Hill and Strawberry Hill House. Another has been misplaced, that belonging to 18th-century aphoristic poet Alexander Pope. Among those is the Neo-Gothic prototype home of Horace Walpole which has given its name to a whole district, Strawberry Hill, and is associated with the oldest Roman Catholic university inside the U.S.A., St Mary's University.
