About The Wilson
The Wilson, in the past known as Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum, in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, was opened in 1899. It offers free affirmation, and has a program of extraordinary displays. It was renamed The Wilson to pay tribute to polar traveller Edward Wilson, a child of Cheltenham, in 2013 after the building was broadened. The exhibition and gallery is overseen by The Cheltenham Trust. The gallery is housed in part of a Regency expanding on Clarence Street composed as the Cheltenham Public Library by draftsman William Hill Knight, who likewise planned the Cheltenham Synagogue and Montpellier Walk.
The historical centre is especially noted for its Arts and Crafts gathering of furniture, materials, pottery, carvings, silver and gems which is perceived as a remarkable accumulation of global significance for which the Art Gallery and Museum has gotten assigned status. Cheltenham's history is very much spoken to, and furthermore there are artworks spreading over four centuries, oriental accumulations of earthenware and ensemble, and archaeological fortunes from the neighbouring Cotswolds.
