About Standedge Tunnels

Standedge Tunnel is the longest, most noteworthy and most profound waterway burrow in Britain. Arranged halfway along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, the passage takes the trench under the high Pennine spine of Northern England between Marsden in the Colne Valley and Diggle in Saddleworth. Initially opened in 1811, the passage has been reestablished and was re-opened in 2001. A feature of a visit to Tunnel End is a vessel ride into the passage.

The rides begin from Tunnel End Cottages at the passage mouth and go around 500 meters into the passage. The adjacent previous channel stockroom was reestablished to make the Standedge Visitor Center. Admission to this is free and it is open on an indistinguishable days from the passage trips and furthermore every day amid school summer occasions.
