St Michaels Leper Hospital
About St Michaels Leper Hospital
The rest of the vestiges of St Michael's Leper Hospital, a medieval healing facility, lie in a fix of scrubland in the Saltisford territory in the north of the town of Warwick. The healing center, which was established by Roger, Earl of Warwick in around 1135, is arranged by English Heritage as a planned landmark. The remaining parts of two of the healing center structures can at present be seen on the site - a church and the fifteenth century, two-story Master's House.
The healing center was established by Roger de Beaumont, second Earl of Warwick, in the region of a congregation of a similar name towards the finish of the rule of Henry I of England, in around 1135. The superintendent was a minister. In the fifteenth century, the house of prayer was presumably revamped after its ward was converged with the Collegiate Church of St Mary, Warwick.
