About St Andrews Church
St Andrew's Church is a destroyed church on the east side of the island, situated above Church Ope Cove and close to the village of Wakeham. Portland's first and final area church until the mid-eighteenth century, St Andrew's has causes going back to the twelfth century. All things considered, it is the most established part-surviving expanding on the island. The church was Portland's first area church and is currently the island's famous recorded spot.
It is trusted that the priests who made the sanctuary in 1100 CE based upon the establishments of a Saxon place of worship. Today, the barest destroys now stay of the congregation, while a few stones are saved in the garden of Portland Museum.
