The Russell-Cotes Museum formally, the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum is a craftsmanship display and exhibition hall in Bournemouth, England. A Grade II recorded building initially known as East Cliff Hall, it is situated on the highest point of the East Cliff, by the Royal Bath Hotel.In 1897, the modeler John Frederick Fogerty was authorized by Merton Russell-Cotes, at that point the proprietor of the Royal Bath Hotel, to manufacture a house as a birthday introduce for his better half Annie.
Initially called East Cliff Hall, it was worked in the upper east area of his lodging's greenery enclosure. Worked in the Art Nouveau style with insides by John Thomas and his child Oliver. It was finished in its first frame in 1901.In 1907, Annie Russell-Cotes gave East Cliff Hall and its substance as a gallery to the town of Bournemouth and Merton gave his artistic work accumulation. Consequently they were made privileged freemen of the town.
They kept living in part of the house and throughout the following ten years they paid for an expansion to be fabricated and made further gifts including the freehold of the site. It was formally opened by Princess Beatrice in 1919. After their passings the Borough of Bournemouth assumed control over the running of East Cliff Hall and re-opened it as the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum on 10 March 1922. After Sir Merton's demise, it was stretched out into his piece of the house; a further augmentation was opened in 2000.
