Runnymede
About Runnymede
Runnymede is well known among locals and visitors for its natural scenery, it is a water-knoll close by the River Thames in the English province of Surrey, and a little more than 20 miles west of focal London. It is remarkable for its relationship with the fixing of Magna Carta, and as an outcome may be, with its bordering slope, the site of remembrances.
Runnymede Borough is named after the zone, Runnymede being at its northernmost point. Close to the Island, on the north-east surge plain, in parkland on the eastern bank of the stream, are Ankerwycke and the remnants of the twelfth-century Priory of St Mary's. The Thames has changed course here sporadically, and these zones may once have been an indispensable piece of Runnymede. Both were gained by the National Trust in 1998.
