About Ruislip Woods

Ruislip Woods is a site of Special Scientific Interest and country wide nature reserve protecting 726 acres in Ruislip inside the London Borough of Hillingdon. The woods became the primary country wide nature reserve in an city area of England in May 1997, receiving the Green Flag Award in 2006. Ruislip Local Nature Reserve is a part of the country wide nature reserve. Evidence of Bronze Age settlements has been observed inside the woods at some stage in archaeological excavations.
Timber from the woods has been used in the constructing of several nationally big homes, in addition to locally; the Great Barn at Manor Farm became constructed from all rightfrom the woods. Ownership of the woods passed with the manor from Ernulf de Hesdin to Bec Abbey and directly to King's College, Cambridge through the years, till Park Wood become bought to the local authority. The remaining woods have been purchased from different owners and Ruislip Woods turned into shaped.
