Rochdale
About Rochdale
Rochdale is a town in Greater Manchester, England, at the lower regions of the South Pennines on the River Roch, 5.3 miles northwest of Oldham and 9.8 miles upper east of Manchester. It is the managerial focus of the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale. Rochdale history starts with a passage in the Domesday Book of 1086 under "Recedham Manor". The old ward of Rochdale was a division of the hundred of Salford and one of the biggest religious areas in England, containing a few townships. By 1251, Rochdale had turned out to be essential enough to have been conceded a Royal contract.
Rochdale prospered into a focal point of northern England's woolen exchange, and by the mid eighteenth century was depicted as being "exceptional for some well off dealers". Rochdale is the origin of the cutting edge Co-agent Movement, to which in excess of one billion individuals overall had a place in 2012. The Rochdale Equitable Pioneers Society was established in 1844 by 28 nearby inhabitants as a reaction to the staggering expense and regular corruption of fundamental foodstuffs by business people at the time. The Pioneers were prominent for joining the idea of the support profit close by contributing exchanging surplus for part advantage, particularly in instruction.
