About Radcliffe Tower
Radcliffe Tower is the main surviving piece of a villa in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester. It is a Grade I recorded building and a Scheduled Monument. The house was revamped in 1403 by James de Radcliffe, who was ruler of the estate of Radcliffe, and comprised of a stone-constructed corridor and a couple of towers, presumably worked with ashlar blocks. De Radcliffe was given an imperial permit to brace the site including crenellations and parapets. The lodge was decimated in the 19th century leaving just the tower.
The tower estimates 10.5 yards by 19 yards and makes due to around 20 feet in height. The remains are possessed by Bury council. It was utilized as a pig pen before being restored.Radcliffe Tower is around 3.3 kilometers south of Bury Castle, a late 15th century moated villa. In 2009, plans to reestablish the shell of the pinnacle as a feature of a more extensive rebuilding venture covering Radcliffe E'es, Close Park and the ward church were propelled with the help of Bury Council.
