Radcliffe is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, Greater Manchester, England. It lies in the Irwell Valley 2.5 miles south-west of Bury and 6.5 miles north-northwest of Manchester and is touching with Whitefield toward the south. The neglected Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal separates the town. Generally a piece of Lancashire, proof of Mesolithic, Roman and Norman movement has been found in Radcliffe and its environment. A Roman street goes through the zone, along the outskirt among Radcliffe and Bury.
Radcliffe shows up in a passage of the Domesday Book as "Radeclive" and in the High Middle Ages framed a little ward and township focused on the Church of St Mary and the manorial Radcliffe Tower, the two of which are Grade I recorded structures. Coal lies under the territory of mines opened in the Industrial Revolution, giving fuel to the cotton turning and papermaking enterprises. By the mid-19th century, Radcliffe was an essential factory town with cotton factories, bleachworks and a street, trench and railroad organize.
