PS Kingswear Castle
About PS Kingswear Castle
PS Kingswear Castle is a steamship. She is a coal-let go stream paddle steamer, dating from 1924 with motors from 1904. Subsequent to running summer journeys on the River Medway and the Thames for a long time she came back to the River Dart in Devon in December 2012 to run trips from 2013 onwards on the stream she was based on and for. Kingswear Castle is recorded as a feature of the National Historic Fleet of boats of "Pre-prominent National Significance".
Her ancestor of a similar name from 1904 is presently a decayed and scarcely conspicuous mass in the River Dart, yet the motors were re-utilized as a part of the ebb and flow steamboat. The Kingswear Castle was worked by Philip and Sons of Dartmouth in 1924 for benefit on the River Dart, following sister ships Compton Castle and Totnes Castle, and was worked by the River Dart Steamboat Co.
