Priory Arch
About Priory Arch
A short separation from the east end of Lincoln House of prayer stands Convent Door, which denotes the area of one of the old medieval entryways that offered access to the church building close.
The present portal, surmounted with escarpments as though despite everything it filled a protective need, straddles the north end of Pottergate.
It is a Victorian trade for the medieval doors on this site, amassed from the first medieval building material.
A comparative passage curve remains at the south end of Pottergate, and Exchequer Entryway, a genuine medieval survivor, remains close to the house of God west front.
A couple of short advances from Convent Entryway is a statue of Alfred, Ruler Tennyson, a Lincolnshire local.
