Out of Order
About Out of Order
Out of order is one of the most attraction sites which attract visitors the most. It is one of the more unusual sights in Kingston. Out of Order which is made by David Mach, is a sculpture in the form of twelve disused red telephone boxes that have been tipped up to lean against one another in an arrangement resembling dominoes.
The work was authorized in 1988 as a major aspect of the arranging for the new Relief Road, and was depicted by its maker as "hostile to moderate.
In 1989 Scottish stone worker David Mach made the lasting open work Out of Order which appears as a column of twelve K6 pay phones. It was initially proposed that the main upright box was to contain a working phone.
