Oldbury Smethwick
About Oldbury Smethwick
Oldbury-Smethwick is a town in Sandwell, West Midlands, generally in Staffordshire. It is 4 miles west of Birmingham downtown area and fringes West Bromwich and Oldbury toward the north and west. In the past a Staffordshire province precinct, Smethwick is arranged close to the edge of Sandwell metropolitan ward and outskirts the Birmingham areas of Handsworth, Winson Green, Harborne, Edgbaston and Quinton toward the south and east, and in addition the Black Country towns of West Bromwich and Oldbury, West Midlands in the north and west.
Smethwick has a long relationship with trenches, which were the town's first significant transport joins from a period before fair streets and obviously railroads. The Birmingham Canal Navigation Old and New Main Line Canals go through the mechanical regions and directly past the High Street, running parallel to the Stour Valley Railway Line: every one of the three wind up in Wolverhampton. James Brindley was the architect accused of building the channel, a man who gives his name to the bustling region in the focal point of Birmingham close to the International Convention Center, National Indoor Arena and Broad Street.
