Nelson Monument, Edinburgh
About Nelson Monument, Edinburgh
The Nelson Landmark is a dedicatory tower to pay tribute to Bad habit Chief of naval operations Horatio Nelson, situated in Edinburgh, Scotland.
It is arranged over Calton Slope and gives a sensational end to the vista along Sovereigns Road from the west.
The landmark was worked in the vicinity of 1807 and 1815 to remember Nelson's triumph over the French and Spanish armadas at the Clash of Trafalgar in 1805, and his own demise at a similar fight.
In 1853 a period ball was included, as a period flag to transportation in Leith harbor.
The landmark was reestablished in 2009.
