About Ludlow
Ludlow is a marketplace city in Shropshire, England, United Kingdom, 28 miles south of Shrewsbury and 23 miles north of Hereford through the main A49 avenue, which bypasses the town. With a population of approximately 11,000, Ludlow is the most important metropolis in South Shropshire. The metropolis is enormous within the history of the Welsh Marches and neighbouring Wales. The city is close to the confluence of the rivers Corve and Teme. The oldest part is the medieval walled metropolis, based in the late eleventh century after the Norman conquest of England.
It is focused on a small hill which lies on the japanese bank of a bend of the River Teme. Situated in this hill are Ludlow Castle and the parish church, St Laurence's, the most important within the county. From there the streets slope downward to the River Teme, and northward toward the River Corve. The town is in a sheltered spot underneath Mortimer Forest and the Clee Hills, which are really visible from the metropolis. Ludlow has almost 500 listed homes, consisting of examples of medieval and Tudor-style half of-timbered homes. The metropolis became described through Sir John Betjeman as "likely the most endearing metropolis in England".
