Lincoln Castle and its Magna Carta
About Lincoln Castle and its Magna Carta
Lincoln is the main place on the planet where you can discover unique duplicates of both the 1215 Magna Carta and the 1217 Charter of the Forest, one of just two surviving copies.
Only four unique duplicates of Magna Carta stay from when it was fixed by King John in 1215.
Ruler John is said to have been constrained into its fixing by insubordinate aristocrats with the point of restricting the energy of the government and maintaining the privileges of the individual.
A year later in 1216, King John kicked the bucket at Newark Castle close to Lincoln and nine-year-old Henry III took the position of royalty.
In 1217, under the direction of William Marhsall - named the 'best knight that at any point lived' - King Henry fixed the Charter of the Forest as a corresponding sanction to Magna Carta which re-built up numerous rights with the expectation of complimentary men.
