Lescudjack Hill Fort
About Lescudjack Hill Fort
Lescudjack Hill Fort is the call given to the unexcavated Iron Age agreement placed in Penzance, Cornwall. It is located on the summit of a steep hill in the east of Penzance and includes a single rampart enclosing a place of three acres. The website has been damaged and contains allotments and an open area of land which has lately been cleared of thick undergrowth. It is stated that a small lead-copper mine changed into located "just outdoor" the ramparts, however all hint of this appears to have vanished. In 2004 this land changed into purchased by Penwith District Council and Penzance Town Council for £45,000 following a sequence of campaigns in the local community such as a campaign performed by means of the then Lescudjack Infants School.
According to Penwith District Council's internet site, a full archaeological survey is being performed by means of Cornwall County Council's Historic Environment Service. The website online is also problem to a control plan jointly agreed via Penzance Town Council and Penwith District Council. The website online traditionally turned into known as a citadel and Castle Road which runs alongside the site was named after it. There are also several roads close by named Lescudjack, colleges have used the call and the nearby Sure Start is called Lescudjack.
