Leamington Spa

Leamington Spa, usually known as Leamington Spa or Leamington, is a spa town in Warwickshire, England. Initially a little town called Leamington Priors it developed into a spa town in the eighteenth century following the advancement of its water which was rumored to have restorative qualities, in the nineteenth century the town experienced a standout amongst the most fast extensions in England. It is named after the River Leam, which moves through the town.

The town contains particularly fine gatherings of Regency architecture, especially in parts of the Parade, Clarendon Square and Lansdowne Circus. In the 2011 statistics Leamington had a populace of 55,733. Leamington is coterminous with the neighboring towns of Warwick and Whitnash, which together shape a ceaseless urban region, in 2011 the urban region had a populace of 95,172. In the past known as Leamington Priors, Leamington created as a town toward the beginning of the nineteenth century.

It was first specified in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Lamintone. For a long time, the settlement was under the control of Kenilworth Priory, from which the more established addition determined. Its name originated from Anglo-Saxon Leman-tun or Lemen-tun = "cultivate on the River Leam". The spa waters had been known in Roman occasions, and the rediscovery in 1784 by William Abbotts and Benjamin Satchwell prompted their commercialisation. Six of the seven wells were bored for; just the first spring at the site of the Aylesford Well, neighboring the Parish Church, happened normally.
