About Larkhall
Larkhall is a town in South Lanarkshire, Scotland and is around 14 miles southeast of Glasgow. It is twinned with Seclin in northern France. Larkhall sits on high ground between the River Clyde toward the East and the Avon Water toward the West. Larkhall sits on the edge of the picturesque Clyde valley and is a suburbanite town for Glasgow. Larkhall had a populace of 14,951 in the 2011 UK Census, and is a run of the mill previous Scotland mechanical town. Generally a mining, weaving and material territory, a large portion of Larkhall's conventional businesses have now shut down, including the Lanarkshire iron and steelworks.
The name Larkhall or Laverock 'Ha initially shows up in diaries around 1620. The sources of the name are obscure, in spite of the fact that Laverock is the Scots word for skylark. In any case, there is no proof that the town is named after the fledgling. It is more probable that Laverock was a surname. The name for Larkhall was initially a Scots word Laverockhaugh which implied laverock skylark and haugh boggy/wet region.
