About Kington
Kington is a market town, discretionary ward and common area in Herefordshire, England. As indicated by the Parish, the ward had a populace of 3,240 while the 2011 evaluation had a populace of 2,626. Kington may have gotten from King's-ton, being Anglo-Saxon for "Lord's Town", like other adjacent towns, for example, Presteigne signifying "Minister's Town" and Knighton being "Knight's Town". Kington is toward the west of Offa's Dyke so probably this land was Welsh in the eighth century AD.
The land was held by Anglo-Saxons in 1066, yet crushed. After the Norman Conquest Kington at that point go to the Crown on the ruin of Roger de Breteuil, second Earl of Hereford in 1075. Before 1121 King Henry I offered Kington to Adam de Port, who established another Marcher barony in this piece of the early Welsh Marches. Kington appears to have been a tranquil barony and was related with the workplace of sheriff of Hereford. In 1172, Adam de Port, most likely the colossal grandson of Henry Port, revolted and fled the nation.
