About Kingston upon Thames
Kingston upon Thames, every now and again known as Kingston, is a zone of southwest London, England, 10 miles southwest of Charing Cross. It is the managerial focal point of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, and recognized as a noteworthy metropolitan focus in the London Plan. Kingston is around 33 feet 10 m above ocean level. It is striking as the old market town in which Saxon lords were delegated.
Kingston was a piece of a substantial antiquated area in the district of Surrey and the town was an old ward, improved in 1835. Since 1965 Kingston has been a piece of Greater London. It has been the area of Surrey County Hall from 1893, extraterritorially as far as nearby government organization. The majority of the town focus is a piece of the KT1 postcode territory, however a few zones north of Kingston railroad station have the postcode KT2.
The 2011 Census recorded the number of inhabitants in the town itself, including the four wards of Canbury, Grove, Norbiton and Tudor, as 43,013. Kingston was called Cyninges tun in AD 838, Chingestune in 1086, Kingeston in 1164, Kyngeston super Tamisiam in 1321 and Kingestowne upon Thames in 1589. The name signifies 'the lord's house or domain' from the Old English words cyning and tun. It had a place with the ruler in Saxon occasions and was the soonest imperial borough.
