Kingston Lacy
About Kingston Lacy
Kingston Lacy is a nation house and bequest close Wimborne Minster, Dorset, England. It was for a long time the family seat of the Bankes family who lived adjacent at Corfe Castle until its demolition in the English Civil War after its occupant proprietors, Sir John Bankes and Dame Mary, had stayed faithful to Charles I. The house was worked in the vicinity of 1663 and 1665 by Ralph Bankes, child of Sir John Bankes, to an outline by the designer Sir Roger Pratt.
It is a rectangular working with two principle stories, upper rooms and storm cellar, demonstrated on Chevening in Kent. The greenery enclosures and parkland were set down in the meantime, including a portion of the example trees that remain today. Different increases and modifications were made to the house throughout the years and the domain stayed in the responsibility for Bankes family from the seventeenth to the late twentieth century.
