Jewry Wall
About Jewry Wall
The Jewry Wall is popular among local people and also among guests; it is a considerable demolished mass of second century Roman stone work, with two expansive entrances, in Leicester, England.
It remains nearby St Nicholas' Circle and St Nicholas' Church. It framed the west mass of an open working in Ratae Corieltauvorum Roman Leicester, close by open showers, the establishments of which were unearthed in the 1930s and are additionally open to see.
The divider gives its name to the adjacent Jewry Wall Museum.
The divider seems to have framed the western long side of a substantial rectangular basilica-like structure. In any case, the exact character and capacity of this building has involved much open deliberation.
Eighteenth and mid nineteenth century antiquaries had a tendency to distinguish it as a Roman or British sanctuary, at times said to have been committed to the god Janus.
