Huddersfield

Huddersfield, town and urban territory, Kirklees metropolitan ward, metropolitan area of West Yorkshire, notable province of Yorkshire, northern England. It lies in the valley of the River Colne 15 miles 24 km southwest of Leeds. Huddersfield developed in the eighteenth century from an extensive town, one of a few that had a local weaving industry, and profited from development of the Calder and Marsden channels.
