About Horsham
Horsham is a marketplace town on the higher reaches of the River Arun at the threshold of the Weald in West Sussex, England. The town is 50 KM south south-west of London, 30km north-west of Brighton and 42 km north-east of the county city of Chichester. It is the executive centre of the Horsham district. Horsham holds the UK report for the heaviest hailstone ever to fall. On 5 September 1958, a hailstone weighing 140g 4.9 ounceslanded in the city. It become similar in length to a tennis ball and impact speeds were calculated to be 100.
Horsham is 50 metres above sea level. It is the Surrey Hills of the North Downs to the north and the Sussex Downs of the South Downs to the south The River Arun rising from ghylls in the St Leonard's Forest area, to the east of Horsham, cuts via the south of the city then makes its manner through Broadbridge Heath. The Arun is joined through the use of way of some of streams flowing down from the north which upward push round Rusper. Horsham has grown up across the Carfax. This street includes houses erected inside the 17th, 18th and early nineteenth century and is lined with historic London Plane bushes. The Horsham Museum is at the north end contrary to the presently evolved.
