Great Hill
About Great Hill
The Great Hill is an open ridge glade with eating areas, a quarter mile delicate surface oval way useful for a run, and yard under a ring of stately trees.
In 1993 the Conservancy supplanted the disintegrating entertainment spaces with a grass and oval track. In August 2009, a surprising microburst crushed the territory, felling such a significant number of the trees in the region. Today the Conservancy has replanted numerous trees and the first perspectives that Olmsted and Vaux had made have been reestablished.
Presently, the Great Hill is the site of picnics, garden diversions, running or race strolling on the oval track, jazz shows, and the mainstream family arrangement "A Clearing in the Forest" at the Peter Jay Sharp Children's Glade toward the west of the oval.
