About Girvan
Girvan is a burgh in Carrick, South Ayrshire, Scotland. Girvan is arranged on the east bank of the Firth of Clyde, with a populace of around 6,700. It lies 21 miles south of Ayr, and 29 miles north of Stranraer, the primary ship port from Scotland to Northern Ireland. Girvan was initially an angling port. In 1668, it turned into a civil burgh consolidated by charter. The opening of the railroads, at first with the Maybole and Girvan Railway toward the finish of the 1850s, empowered the improvement of Girvan as a coastline resort with shorelines and bluffs.
Holidaying here from 1855 to 1941 were Robert and Elizabeth Gray and their youngsters; especially Alice and Edith Gray. The family, drove mainly by Elizabeth and Alice, made logically sorted out accumulations of fossils for a few historical centers including the Natural History Museum. The town is currently served by Girvan railroad station. Only north of the town is a William Grant and Sons refinery which opened in 1964. There is a Nestlé production line that fabricates chocolate that is dispatched down to York and utilized in Kit Kat and Yorkie bars.
