Eling Tide Mill
About Eling Tide Mill
Eling Tide Mill, situated on an artificial causeway in Eling in Hampshire, England, is one of only two remaining operating tide mills in the United Kingdom. The other is Woodbridge Tide Mill in Suffolk. While a plant is made reference to in the Domesday Book of 1086, there is no proof that there is any association with the present plant. The current factory was remade approximately two hundred years back after tempest harm in the 1770s. Eling Tide Mill is the point of convergence of The Eling Experience, made in 2009 when the tide process, adjacent Totton and Eling Heritage Center, and the open air strolls at Goatee Beach and Bartley Water went under a similar administration and showcasing.
It is a Grade II recorded building. For a great part of the factory's life it was claimed by Winchester College. A rent makes due from the year 1418, when the College rented the plant to Thomas Mydlington, expecting him to keep up the plant and the highway. The highway was inclined to fall, for instance it washed away in 1887. This issue proceeded up until 1940 when present day building estimations uncovered the reason to be the plan of the floodgates. This was then adjusted.
