East Lancashire Railway
About East Lancashire Railway
Passenger benefits amongst Bury and Rawtenstall were pulled back by British Rail on 3 June 1972. Coal administrations to Rawtenstall finished in 1980, and formal conclusion followed in 1982. The East Lancashire Railway is 20 km legacy railroad line in north-west England which keeps running amongst Heywood and Rawtenstall with middle stations at Bury Bolton Street, Burrs Country Park, Summerseat, Ramsbottom and Irwell Vale.
The East Lancashire Railway Trust revived the line on 25 July 1987.2 The underlying administration worked amongst Bury and Ramsbottom, by means of Summerseat. In 1991 the administration was stretched out northwards from Ramsbottom to achieve Rawtenstall, by means of Irwell Vale.
