Durham University Oriental Museum
About Durham University Oriental Museum
The Oriental Museum, some time ago also been known by the name of the Gulbenkian Museum of Oriental Art and Archeology, is an exhibition hall of the University of Durham in England.
The gallery has an accumulation of more than 23,500 Chinese, Egyptian, Korean, Japanese and other Far East and Asian antiquities.
The gallery was established because of the need to house an expanding gathering of Oriental ancient rarities utilized by the School of Oriental Studies that were beforehand housed around the University.
The Museum's Chinese and Egyptian accumulations are 'assigned' by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council MLA as being of "national and worldwide significance".
In March 2012, a national honor, "The Bronze Hear by Right", was displayed in the exhibition hall by the National Youth Agency.
