About Dunoon
Dunoon is the primary town on the Cowal promontory in the south of Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is on the western shore of the upper Firth of Clyde, toward the south of the Holy Loch and toward the north of Innellan. The early history of Dunoon frequently spins around two quarreling tribes: the Lamonts and the Campbells. Dunoon was a prevalent goal when travel by steamships was normal around the Firth of Clyde; Glaswegians portrayed this as going "Doon the watter". This reduced, and numerous holidaymakers began to go somewhere else as streets and railroads enhanced and the notoriety of abroad travel expanded.
In 1961, amid the stature of the Cold War, Dunoon turned into a battalion town to the United States Navy. In 1992, they shut their Holy Loch base, and Dunoon endured a monetary downturn. Since the base's conclusion, the town and encompassing region are again swinging to tourism, showcasing to outside lovers and untamed life darlings and in addition advancing celebrations and rivalries. The biggest yearly occasion held in the town is the Cowal Highland Gathering. The Royal National Mod has been held in the town seven times and in 2018 will again be held at Dunoon in October.
