Drinkwater Park
About Drinkwater Park
Drinkwater Park is arranged in the Irwell Valley on the western fringe of Prestwich, close Manchester, limited by the River Irwell toward the west, Agecroft Road and Rainsough Brow toward the south, Butterstile Lane and Carr Clough domain toward the east and Bunkers Hill toward the north. The recreation center is regulated by Bury Metropolitan Borough Council and is a piece of Prestwich Forest Park, which additionally fuses Philips Park, Mere Clough, Prestwich Clough and Waterdale Meadow.
In 1389, the Langleys of Agecroft Hall obtained the land which was cultivated as a component of the medieval domain of Robert de Prestwich. The Manor of Prestwich stayed with the Langley family until the point that 1561 when it was passed on by marriage to the Coke family. In 1777 Thomas William Coke, wishing to build his Norfolk homes started to auction the Manor of Prestwich and Peter Drinkwater, child of Thomas Drinkwater of Whalley, purchased the Manor in 1794.
