About Dolgellau
Dolgellau is a market town and network in Gwynedd, north-west Wales, lying on the River Wnion, a tributary of the River Mawddach. It is generally the region town of the memorable district of Merionethshire Welsh: Meirionnydd, Sir Feirionnydd, which lost its regulatory status when Gwynedd was made in 1974. Dolgellau is the primary base for climbers of Cadair Idris. The site of Dolgellau was, in the pre-Roman Celtic period, some portion of the ancestral grounds of the Ordovices, who were vanquished by the Romans in AD 77– 78.
In spite of the fact that a couple of Roman coins from the rules of Emperors Hadrian and Trajan have been found close Dolgellau, the territory is mucky and there is no proof that it was settled amid the Roman time frame. There are, be that as it may, three slope posts in the region of Dolgellau, of unverifiable starting point.
After the Romans left, the territory went under the control of a progression of Welsh chieftains, in spite of the fact that Dolgellau was likely not occupied until the late eleventh or twelfth century, when it was set up as a "serf town" or maerdref, potentially by Cadwgan ap Bleddyn — it remained a serf town until the rule of Henry Tudor 1485– 1509. A congregation was worked in the twelfth century, in spite of the fact that Cymer Abbey, established in 1198 in close-by Llanelltyd, remained the most vital religious focus locally.
