Dock Museum
About Dock Museum
The Dock Museum is arranged in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. The greater part of its shows concern the historical backdrop of the town, concentrating on the shipbuilding business at VSEL (now BAE), the steelworks business — of which Barrow once had the world's biggest, the Furness Railway and the World War II bombings of the town. There has been a museum in Barrow since 1907 and in its present area since 1994, when 50,000 individuals visited it in its first year, guest numbers crested at 120,000 of every 2001. The museum has free passage, and is one of the Lake District's best attractions.
On starting access to the museum, the ground floors exhibitions are about the town's history, its quick mushrooming, and in addition how it was influenced by World War II. The biggest piece of the museum is housed in a previous dry dock, where three stories containing models of boats and submarines worked in Barrow, alongside different displays can be found. The Vickers Photographic Archive, a file of 10,000 glass plate negatives given by the shipyard, was once accessible on the web. The Dock Museum centres to a great extent around Barrow-in-Furness and its quick environment. The museum has a solid ancient times gathering, common history relics, local goods, toys and sea objects.
