Crediton Parish Church
About Crediton Parish Church
It is an unmistakable building and loving group in the Devon town of Crediton. The congregation was the "church building" of the Bishop of Crediton in the previous ward until 1050 when the see was exchanged to Exeter. A school of groups stayed at Crediton, managing the structures and life of the "university" church.
The nave and chancel of the present building date from the fifteenth century. At the English Reformation the congregation was surrendered to Henry VIII in 1545 and the school scattered. The congregation structures were purchased by the Crediton Town Corporation who still oversee the texture today.
