About Clyston Mill
There has been a factory named Clyston at Broadclyst for a large number of years. The principal specify of it was first made in The Domesday Book in 1086, where it was alluded to as Clistone/tona process. Its area was a riddle as of now, however it was believed to be on an extend of a stream north of where the plant is today. In 1806, Samuel Flood had the factory and a windmill particle the opposite side of the town.
Evidence of it in this area was given in 1859, when occupant mill operator Richard Burton was not able plant flour on numerous occassions because of the absence of water, so he purchased a steam motor from London to influence the factory. In 1862, a disasterous fire began in the factory steady and demolished the residence house, yet fortunately the plant and its hardware were spared. The waterwheel used to drive the grindstones was a low-bosom shot wheel made essentially of cast press and wooden machine gear-pieces.
