About Cardiff Castle

Cardiff Castle is a medieval palace and Victorian Gothic recovery chateau situated in the downtown area of Cardiff, Wales. The first motte and bailey palace was worked in the late eleventh century by Norman intruders over a third-century Roman fortification.

The manor was authorized either by William the Conqueror or by Robert Fitzhamon and shaped the core of the medieval town of Cardiff and the Marcher Lord an area of Glamorgan.

In the twelfth century, the manor started to be remade in stone, most likely by Robert of Gloucester, with a shell keep and generous cautious dividers being raised.

Additionally, work was directed by Richard de Clare, sixth Earl of Gloucester, in the second 50% of the thirteenth century.
