Canterbury Cathedral
About Canterbury Cathedral
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, striking Canterbury Cathedral reflects segments of different building styles from ious hundreds of years. An absolute necessity visit when in Canterbury, it's celebrated for having been where Archbishop Thomas Becket was killed in 1170. Becket had encountered Henry II, whose knights confounded a remark he made wishing the Archbishop "gone" as a request to execute him.
Almost 900 years after the fact, it's as yet chilling to remain in the correct spot in the Northwest Transept where this terrible wrongdoing was conferred. Another fascinating spot to look at is the choir. Gloating a choir screen dating from 1411, the radiant stonework is improved with holy messengers conveying shields and the delegated figures of six rulers: Henry V, Richard II, Ethelbert of Kent, Edward the Confessor, Henry IV, and Henry VI.
