Perceived as the world's first Scout camp, the occasion is viewed as the genuine inception of the overall Scout development. Up to the mid 1930s, outdoors by Boy Scouts proceeded on Brownsea Island. In 1963, a formal 50-section of land 200,000 m2 Scout campground was opened by Olave Baden-Powell, when the island turned into a nature preservation region possessed by the National Trust. In 1973, a Scout Jamboree was hung on the island with 600 Scouts.
