About Brecon
Brecon antiquatedly known as Brecknock, is a market town and network in Powys, Wales, with a populace in 2001 of 7,901, expanding to 8,250 at the 2011 registration. Truly it was the province town of Brecknockshire Breconshire; in spite of the fact that its job all things considered was obscured with the arrangement of the County of Powys, it remains an imperative neighborhood focus. Brecon is the third-biggest town in Powys, after Newtown and Ystradgynlais. It lies north of the Brecon Beacons mountain extend, yet is simply inside the Brecon Beacons National Park.
The Welsh name, Aberhonddu, signifies "mouth of the Honddu". It is gotten from the River Honddu, which meets the River Usk close to the town focus, a short separation far from the River Tarell which enters the Usk a couple of hundred meters upstream. After the Dark Ages the first Welsh name of the kingdom in whose region Brecon stands was in present day orthography "Brycheiniog", which was later anglicized to Brecknock or Brecon, and most likely gets from Brychan, the eponymous organizer of the kingdom.Prior to the working of the scaffold over the Usk, Brecon was one of only a handful couple of spots where the stream could be forded. In Roman Britain Y Gaer, Brecon Cicucium was built up as a Roman rangers base for the success of Roman Wales and Brecon was first settled as an army installation.
