Bradford-on Avon is a metropolis and civil parish in west Wiltshire, England, with a populace of 9,402 at the 2011 census. The town's canal, ancient homes, stores, pubs and restaurants make it popular with travelers. The records of the town can be traced back to Roman origins. It has several homes courting from the 17th century, when the city grew because of the thriving English woollen textile enterprise. Bradford-on-Avon has been the headquarters of Avon Rubber, a big producer of rubber products for the car and other industries. Today, it is the headquarters of the Alex Moulton bicycle corporation.
It has several different small scale manufacturing firms. The metropolis's predominant business is retail purchasing, tourism and day to day servicing of a population largely made of families, commuters and the retired. The metropolis has one mid-sized grocery store, Sainsbury's located on the Elms Cross Industrial estate, a minute stroll from the Canal lock, and five comfort shops. Local customers founded Bradford-on-Avon Co-operative Society in 1861, which, in the 60s, united with different consumer co-operatives within the district to merge with a national enterprise. A mini out of doors purchasing centre of independent shops, Weavers Walk, which describes itself as an ethical trading centre, is within the town centre.
