Blackpool is a seaside resort on the Lancashire drift in North West England. The town is on the Irish Sea, between the Ribble and Wyre estuaries, 15 miles northwest of Preston, 27 miles north of Liverpool, 28 miles northwest of Bolton and 40 miles northwest of Manchester. It had an expected populace of 139,720 at the 2011 Census, making it the most crowded town in Lancashire. Blackpool rose to noticeable quality and as a noteworthy focus of tourism in England when a railroad was worked in the 1840s interfacing it to the industrialized areas of Northern England.
