About Belmont Park
This stop is arranged between Blackboy Road and Belmont Road. It was one of the first of the late Victorian stops in Exeter to be opened. The Public Health Act of 1875 enabled neighborhood specialists to make by-laws for the arrangement of open delight grounds. Exeter opened the 5 section of land Belmont Park in 1886, section on the site of a brickfield having a place with a Mr Phillips, and part ashore having a place with William Huxtable.
The laying out of the recreation center cost £1,400, incorporating the filling in of a few hollows, from the brickfield. The following year, the recreation center was the inside for a show of Olde Englishe Sportes to observe Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. The 1897 Kelly's Directory, noticed that John Lock was the attendant and furthermore commented 'The neighboring streams manage the cost of wealth of diversion to the fisherman'.
